If you're a builder or architect searching for timbers, flooring or trim in small to exceptional sizes, we can supply you with your ideal building materials from 28" square to 44' long, free of heart or boxed heart timbers, green or kiln dried. If you want a plank floor or T&G with no stop seams from end wall to end wall, you can order materials from us to fulfill your request. Spalted maple flooring is a specialty item we offer in 4", 6" and 8" widths up to 12 feet long. Let us know how we can help accomplish your architectural needs.
We harvest, mill and merchandise all the timber materials used in our homes, striving to minimize adverse impact on the environment in each phase of production. We neither search out the countryside for relic buildings nor ship our trees from out of state, instead concentrating on our own locally harvested trees; this capability enables us to maintain a small ecological footprint using less fossil fuel than most timber-works companies, involving our community in its resource. The homeowner receives the added benefit of knowing each quality timber used in the home is never compromised by its past use, and is ready for its first "use phase" capable of hundreds of years of service.
All the timber we use in our homes - the walls, roof structure and flooring/trim materials - are harvested locally within a 5 mile radius of our sawmill yard located in the middle of the Mt. Hood National Forest. By salvaging quality trees from small plots, hazards, blow downs and home site clearings, we're able to offer the finest Douglas fir, Western Red Cedar, Hemlock, Maple and Alder available in this area. Most of these trees would otherwise become firewood as they do not amount to enough volume to interest the larger mills located many miles away.
We salvage and store these trees and produce a final form product, with our small ecological footprint, using less energy consumption than most other operations through the use of our electric Woodmizer sawmill powered with PGE green source/wind power electricity. The excavator we use to handle the logs and timbers, as well as for site preparation work, uses bio-diesel fuel, allowing us the ability to bring you a home whose 'materials and production' phases puts our environmental future first.
